As a Washington State-registered and federally-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are dependent on donations to help pay for everything from our web hosting and bandwidth, to food and hydration for our hard-working mascot performers, as well as fuel and RV rentals for our major events. We greatly appreciate any and all donations to help us continue to bring the unique magic of character performance to benefit local charities and community events! All donations to Emerald City Critters are tax-deductible under Internal Revenue Code 170. Donate by clicking the PayPal link below. Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Why do you do this?
A: We LOVE the art, the creativity, and the magic of character performance! There's nothing like being able to bring a smile to someone's face, especially children. Maybe someone has had a bad day at work, or a child has been struggling through the loss of a pet or loved one. When they see the happy, smiling cartoon animal come to life, all of their worries disappear for a moment while they are drawn into the magic of the character. All of us at Emerald City Critters seek to use our performance skills to brighten the world around us and make a positive difference in the communities in which we live. Our goal is to help make YOUR event a smashing success, and we will do everything we can to achieve that! Q: How much do you charge? Do you do private parties? A: Being a nonprofit, the services of Emerald City Critters are run on a strictly volunteer basis. We rely solely on the goodwill and donations of the people that believe in our cause, and those we have the pleasure of serving. While we do not require donations for our Charity/Fundraiser appearances, for private events or parties we charge $20/hr per Critter (performance time) with a $15 flat-rate appearance/setup fee which helps cover the rising cost of incidentals such as fuel, bottles of hydrating water and sport drinks for our performers, as well as funds to support our website and promotional materials. And of course, additional donations/gratuities for a job well done are always appreciated, and will help ensure the future success of Emerald City Critters! Q: What information do you need to request a booking? A: When requesting our services, it is best to give as much information as you can about the venue so we can take the necessary steps to ensure our participation in the event runs as smoothly as possible. Please indicate if it is an indoor or outdoor venue as well as the exact date and time(s) and how many performers you would like to have. Also, we greatly appreciate if a venue has an available changing space for our costumers to change and take rest breaks when needed. Our policy is for our hard working Critters to include a 15-minute break in every hour of performance, at minimum. Q: Can we provide our own mascot costume? A: Yes! If you have a mascot for your business, organization or charity and would like an experienced, energetic performer to help your cause, we will be glad to assist. For these requests we will charge a flat-rate performance fee of $20 per hour, which will go directly towards funding to keep Emerald City Critters running. Q: I live in the Seattle/Puget Sound area and am interested in helping out. How do I apply? A: We welcome any and all applicants looking to join Emerald City Critters as costume performers and/or Critter "handlers"! Contact Tim via e-mail at tim@emeraldcitycritters.org and he will send you an application. Membership is free and the only fee is a one-time payment of $30 which goes towards a portion of the cost for the ECC official jerseys that are worn at events (Critters only).
